Why are we to believe that the Creator of the world loves us? He is the one that created you in His likeness. He is the one that will dramatically change your life. When we are down and feel lonely–life can feel pretty hollow. The enemy will do whatever is necessary to make you feel that God has forsaken you. He tried to convince Jesus of this in the wilderness and on the cross.
King David experienced pain and began to believe God was not with him during painful moments. David wrote about this in the Psalms. No matter who or what is driving a wedge in your relationship with God, understand that they are a distraction. Combat darts of doubt, turmoil and anxiety with the Word of God. This will be your anchor.
But first, you need to know that you are cherished by Him. Here are 5 reasons that God loves you.
He Forgives You
He knows your thoughts and your heart even when we can’t see the good. Maybe you sinned and the regret over the sin has obscured your view of God. If you are unable to accept His love, then something in your life is missing. You may have to forgive yourself or forgive others. God has as He stated in Ephesians 2:4-5: “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace, you have been saved.” Think on this when you can’t accept His forgiveness.
He Gave Up Jesus
God sent Jesus to stand in the gap for you. Mankind was destroying everything in the world and the judgment of God was on the way for man. But God sent Jesus to take the sin of the world upon Himself to save us from this judgment. He sent Christ to become our human buffer. We all know the Scripture from John 3:16 that explained: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” God gave His son for you. That sacrifice is love beyond measure and it is pretty incredible.
He Knows You
God knew you before you were born and loved you then and now! Even before your parents, your Creator was already acquainted with your soul and you. We can see this in Jeremiah 1:5. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” When you are feeling that you have no purpose, reflect on these powerful words that you are and were always loved before the foundations of the earth were created. That makes you an important part of God’s Kingdom and His overall purpose.
He is Never Surprised
You know it is no big surprise to God when you fail or fall short? God knows that man will sin and mess things up. He knows our strengths and our weaknesses. But guess what? Our failures and daily mistakes will never create a divider where God will forsake us. Romans 8:37-39 instructed that “neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” When doubt comes that God has forsaken you, return to this promise and remember you can always return to Him no matter what.
He Rejoices Over You
God created you in His own image and He is delighted in you. You were born with a set of gifts that were meant to expand the mission of Christ and to enjoy the fruits of your labor. He is actually rejoicing over you in Heaven. Zephaniah 3:17 explained that God is in your midst. He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing.” Imagine that the Lord is pleased and is happy that you are His. God’s love is mentioned multiple times here. There is a reason for this repetition, so embrace it.
You are special in God’s eyes and we all need to remember this when we fall victim to doubt. You were designed in His image and likeness for a purpose. Compile several Scriptures when you need a reminder. Keep it handy when you make a mistake or need a spiritual boost.
