These Bibles verses about healing offer comfort and guidance to those in pain. Whether you or a loved one needs healing, Scripture can help you get through it.
1.Light Breaks Forth
God promises hope for His people. No matter how dark it may seem, He is with you, and you’ll make it to daybreak.
Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen, to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear, then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
~Isaiah 58:6-8
2.Abundant Peace
God promises healing, and not just for physical ailments. He can soothe fears and heal heartbreak, if only you have faith.
Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.
~Jeremiah 33:6
3.Revere God’s Name
Picture yourself bathed in the sunlight of righteousness, and think about what it means to revere God’s name.
But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.
~Malachi 4:2
4.Power in Weakness
God doesn’t define power the way people do. Your spirit can be strong even if your body is weak.
Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of evil, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the redeemer’s power may rest on me.
~2 Corinthians 12:7-10
5.Power and Love
Remember to pray for your family and friends when their health isn’t the best. Your faith is a powerful tool for helping others.
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the community to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.
~James 5:14-15
6.The New Order
This passage from Revelation reminds us to think beyond our current suffering. Even if we aren’t healed in this life, there is a new world approaching.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
~Revelation 21:4
7.The Healing of the Nations
Here’s another quote from Revelation. This one reminds us that someday God will heal not only us, but the whole world!
On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
~Revelation 22:2
8.A Prayer for Healing
Try this heartfelt prayer the next time you’re in need of healing. It worked for Jeremiah, so why shouldn’t it work for you?
Heal me, Oh Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for You are the one I praise.
~Jeremiah 17:14
9.Praise the Lord
When you’re healed, don’t forget who you have to thank for it. God deserves your praise!
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.
~Psalm 103:2-3
10.He Sent Out His Word
When you’re feeling hopeless, remember all the people God has healed before you. Our faith isn’t blind; there’s ample evidence to support it.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
~Psalm 107:19-21
11.The Lord Who Heals You
There is so much power in these seven words. Never forget who heals your every hurt.
He said, “If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.”
~Exodus 15:26
12.Healing Words
Talking to God is important, but remember to listen as well! He speaks to us through the Bible and other outlets for a reason.
Pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.
~Proverbs 4:20-22
