You can change your life by detoxing the mind with Christ. Did you know that we can literally change the structure of our brain with what we feed it every day? Neuroscientist Dr. Caroline Leaf says that 75 percent to 95 percent of the illnesses that plague us today are a direct result of our thought life. What we think about affects us physically and emotionally.
It’s an epidemic of toxic emotions and is literally making us sick. Our experiences and environment shape our thinking and often that way of thinking is false. False thinking is strongholds not based on truth but on lies. We are very susceptible to strongholds if we don’t know who we are in Christ. Here are 9 suggestions that can change the way we think and improve our overall health, relationships, and what we attract.
Second Guessing
How many times have you second-guessed yourself today? The Devil loves to trip us up with the second-guessing but remember indecisiveness is worst than making a wrong decision. Start praying for God to strengthen your confidence in who you are in Him. Do your homework, follow those instincts, and be considerate and the rest will play out exactly how it is supposed to. We are not supposed to know everything so ask God to be your guide and know you are in the best hands. You have power in Christ.
Scenarios of the Unknown
How many of scenarios of the unknown, unpredictable future have you played out in your mind? We were created only to focus on today because we don’t know if we will even be here tomorrow. When you find your mind wandering into the unknown future, make a conscious effort to get back into the present. There are so many blessings in the present, don’t miss out by being blind to what is right in front of you. Each morning, say out loud.. “God is with me and I am going to make the most of today.” Let your loved ones know how you feel about them, today!
Pain
How many conversations or situations have you played out over and over again in your head that have caused you pain? The Lord says, we will have trouble in this life but take heart, for I have overcome the world. Take captive those painful thoughts with prayer. Most often if we give it to God and sit still, he will work on our behalf because the worst-case
Fear
How much of a role is fear playing? We are not meant to stay stagnant; we are created to live fearlessly. Think about a time when you pushed through fear and realized what was on the other side of that fear was so much better than where you currently were. Fear is just the Devils way to paralyze and God says take my hand and allow me to show you what could be. Don’t allow the Devil to steal your unclaimed blessings.
Distorted Thinking
How distorted is your thinking? What are you thinking about is vital to a positive life. Start to examine each thought and ask God to show you the truth. Get into the word and allow God to start speaking into those areas of deception. Remember, our environment shapes us so whom are you hanging out with? What are you talking about? What are you putting out into the environment? Where is your wisdom coming from? You cannot have a positive life with a negative mind. Get up, get your coffee, count your blessings and ask God to give you wisdom.
Your Words
Are you making comments like ” Nothing ever goes right for me?” or ” I will never get married?” or ” I will never get my dream job?” When we say words like never and always, we are making a covenant whether we know it or not. The Devil loves to get us into this type of bondage so again start to capture your thoughts and consciously replace them with ” God has a plan and He loves me.” Remember what you are putting out there, you are attracting back.
Giving Up
Do you get frustrated and give up? Sometimes we are meant to let go but most times we are meant to persevere. One thing that can help you in this area is to only focus on the tasks today. Each day is a new day and if you start looking at it like that, your breakthrough will come. We never know what God has around the corner for us so be grateful and stop complaining. Complaining and giving up is a waste of time and will hold up your process.
Honesty
Are you honest with yourself? Self- examinations are difficult to face but so necessary. Where are you investing your time? What is important to you? How do you treat others? What are you thinking about? Our life is not to be lived for ourselves but for others. It is a daily dying of ourselves and the more time you spend with God, the more He will show you the actual truth and not the false” worldly truth.” Who do you inspire to be? Seek Him; He has many treasures for you.
Relationships
How healthy are your relationships? Relationships are wrecked with the exclusion of grace. If you come into another’s life and start making rules, demands, and want your own way, then grace is absent. Begin to think of it like this… How much grace has God given you when you were tired, hungry, disappointed, angry, lying, hurting another? When we step back and allow the people in our lives to be themselves, that is where we find freedom, a clean conscious and ultimately love. Ask God to help you in the area of grace.
