When crying, we feel as if that is the weakest that anyone could ever see us in that moment of our lives.
It is a very vulnerable experience to let yourself cry in front of people you love and trust, as well as letting yourself cry in front of people who truly don’t deserve your tears.

However, did you know that crying is one of the best things you could do for your health? That’s right, crying let’s your body detox itself from all the stress that is happening your life as well as preventing certain stress induced illnesses.

According to Dr. William H. Frey II, neuroscientist/tear researcher PhD, states this:
“Crying is not only a human response to sorrow and frustration, it’s a healthy one. Crying is a natural way to reduce emotional stress that, left unchecked, has negative physical affects on the body, including increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease and other stress-related disorders.”
Essentially what this means is that crying is probably one of the best ways that you could cope with adversity. What else can crying do for you?

1. Help Others Feel Comfortable Being Vulnerable With You

If you’ve ever let yourself cry in front of others, then they can see just how vulnerable and exposed you really are. Seeing a person cry sparks a wide feeling of empathy within everyone that cares for you.
They can feel exactly what you are feeling and let themselves become just as vulnerable as you are. Expressing your sorrows can help others express their own troubles at the same time.
We all just need a good cry every now and then, so don’t be afraid to show those emotions to your loved ones.

2. Good For Your Mental/Physical Health

Crying, as stated before, is extremely good for your mental and your physical well being.
Crying releases certain hormones that allow your body to feel really good as it lowers your manganese levels, which are responsible for a majority of your stress and or anxiety if too much of it builds up. Let your body detox by crying!

3. Facing Your Emotional Stress

Crying is one of the best ways that you can face your emotional stresses with. It may seem like everything is going to end but if you don’t let yourself cry then you aren’t letting yourself feel everything that you want.
Crying let’s you understand why it is your feeling the way you are, it helps you get out whatever it is that’s bothering you the most, and you get to decide the way you’re going to change or fix it.
Crying is like a personal therapy that allows you to understand everything that is wrong right now, a little bit better.

4. Much Needed Emotional Release

Crying let’s you get rid of all the bad feelings you’re suffering from. All the negativity that’s been stored inside you releases all at once the minute you begin to cry.
Like we said before, it’s like a personal therapy you give yourself that allows you to dispose of all the unwanted feelings bottled up. The more you are able to release those emotions, the more you will begin to understand what happiness looks like to you again.
You find the things that bring you the most joy and begin to love them all over again.
So, the next time you feel like crying, let those tears pour! Your body could really use the release and it would be silly to try to bottle every single emotion you have.

The more you let yourself cry, the more you will begin to see just how good it is for you. Let yourself be vulnerable and express your sorrows. Cry out to the world so that you can find your happiness again.
